In observance of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, Blue Corn Music proudly presents the Dark River project, a unique anthology of public-domain songs from the Civil War era, impressively re-imagined by a diverse collection of A-list Austin singer/songwriters, including—to name a few—Slaid Cleaves, James McMurtry, Eliza Gilkyson, Jimmy LaFave and Jon Dee Graham.
The Dark River song cycle presents a vibrant and compelling narrative, beginning with a young man on his way to the pivotal battle of Shiloh, through the years of blood and glory, and concluding out west on the streets of Laredo.
Dark River paints a vivid and telling portrait of America’s most convulsive decade.
