Founder & CEO
Founder and CEO of IODA, Kevin guides the growth of one of the largest digital distributors of independent music in the world, combining his dedication to independents and his unique understanding of the digital music world to benefit IODA's global client base. Wearing another hat, Kevin also directs Noise Pop Industries, which produces San Francisco's internationally renowned Noise Pop Festival, which he founded in 1993, as well as the Treasure Island Music Festival and other Bay Area cultural events.
A terminal music fan and technology geek, Kevin learned about databases during a stint at Oracle then quickly jumped into the bubbling digital music sector early at online music startup Listen.com. As director of Data Services for Listen, Kevin was able to combine his love for music and technology by guiding the growth and development of Listen's complex music metadata systems, data integration tools, and music royalty data warehouse for the Rhapsody digital music subscription service. While the prospect of creating compelling legal music services that catered to individual tastes was exciting, the realization that they would be focused overwhelmingly on major label music wasn't. Kevin founded IODA in 2003 to help independents find their way in the new world of digital music.
VP of Client Management & Marketing
As VP of Client Management and Marketing, Adam oversees IODA's distribution and marketing services for thousands of music labels, physical distributors, individual rightsholders and video owners. Directing a team of eight experts in musical genres, marketing and client management, Adam drives IODA's renowned client satisfaction and continued growth. Adam also leads the company's philanthropic efforts including oversight of projects with USA for Africa, Air Traffic Control and FINCA. Adam started his career as a record store clerk at age 16. An early pioneer in the digital delivery of music, he spent three years at first-to-market CDuctive.com in 1999, and its eventual successor eMusic.com (sold to Vivendi in 2001). Adam has worked as an artist manager (Yerba Buena, ill lit), a music supervisor (Shooting Livien, The Gypsy Years), and as a consultant for various media start-ups including Stop Smiling Magazine, Fun Machine Records, and Velveteen Films. Prior to joining IODA, Adam was co-owner and director of Retail Marketing at Fanatic Promotion, a marketing and PR firm for independent record labels based in New York.
VP of Account Management
As VP of Account Management, Bill directs IODA's global business development as well as relationships with IODA's consumer facing partners. Bill joined IODA in 2010 after spending almost four years at SONY Music where he started as an account executive on the physical side of the business before migrating over to the digital world in 2008. Bill began his career in independent music retail eleven years ago as the owner of East Alley Records in Michigan. In 2004 he joined MSI music, a music importer based in Miami, as a national sales rep. Over the years Bill has managed bands, independent labels and national tours. Bill joined IODA to support independent labels, which he believes are the true lifeblood of the industry.
VP of Finance
As VP of Finance, Jane oversees IODA's financial operations including budgeting & forecasting, reporting, HR & accounting. As part of her fiscal leadership, Jane focuses on improving productivity, enhancing efficiencies & supporting IODA's continued growth. Joining IODA is Jane's first foray into the independent music world. For the last 12 years, she worked at SONY Music, serving most recently as the head of Finance for Epic Records where she worked with artists including Michael Jackson, Modest Mouse, Pearl Jam, Franz Ferdinand, Los Lonely Boys and Matisyahu. Jane acquired her CPA license with Ernst & Young, auditing clients in all facets of the music business, including publishing (EMI Music Publishing, Harry Fox Agency), concert promotion (SFX Entertainment, now Live Nation) and music labels (Tommy Boy Records). Jane is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business.
VP of Business & Legal Affairs
Jonathan Earp oversees IODA's legal and business affairs. Jon has worked in the entertainment industry as an attorney since 1989, with an emphasis on digital products beginning in 2000. His client list has included digital B2C and B2B companies, entertainment websites, record companies, music publishing companies, film companies, recording artists, songwriters, and producers of music, film and television. Previously, Jon was an in-house attorney for Napster 1.0 (in their ill-fated attempt to become a fully licensed P2P system), Rhino Records, Paramount Pictures and NBC Studios USA/Universal Television.
Jon is the author of numerous articles about the entertainment and new media industries, the author of the software package Automated Contracts for the Music Industry [Entertainment Publishers], and designer and teacher of the college course "Record Company Operation". Jon earned his J.D. from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, and resides in the Bay Area with his strong wife and above-average children.
VP of Engineering
As VP of Engineering for IODA, Mike manages IODA's software development team. One of IODA's first employees, Mike has guided the development of the company's technology platform for seven years, adapting it to meet the changing digital distribution landscape and the demands of independent labels around the world. Previously, Mike worked at the McKinley Group (home of the Magellan Seach Index, later purchased by Excite@Home) through out the rise and fall of the dotcom era, contributing to the Internal Application Development and UI Design teams. Mike is co-founder of SF indie label Amazing Grease Records with Spiral Stairs (Pavement). His main band Oranger has released 5 records and toured with Elliott Smith, Guided By Voices, Wilco and others. Director, Client Management
As director of Client Management, Ian oversees relationships with many of IODA's prominent label partners, helping them leverage distribution and marketing opportunities to grow their digital business. Ian began his career in technology and media in 1995 at Wired Magazine's online sibling HotWired. He became director of online advertising there, while still making time to be the marketing manager for the illustrious, eerily prescient blog Suck.com. Ian has worked in the Web world in marketing, editorial, and design capacities before joining IODA in 2005. Over the years he has also contributed rudimentary guitar and attentive van-driving skills to musical outfits like improv-noiseniks Boxleitner, and the terribly named Jim Yoshii Pile-Up.
Director, Product Management
As director of Product Management Gregor Dodson manages the development of IODA's core distribution platform, proprietary client tools and analytics within the Rightsholder Dashboard, content and data integration with IODA's partners worldwide. Prior to his current role at IODA, Gregor led the back-end engineering team and developed IODA's royalty accounting systems. Before joining IODA, Gregor led the quantitative data management team at Barclays Global Investors.
